Proptosis following head injury in children with reticulosis.

چکیده
THE TWO patients described below entered the Neurosurgical Service of the Children's Hospital with bilateral proptosis occurring after a minor head injury. Both of the patients were in fact suffering from reticulosis but the condition had been previously unsuspected. In the first patient evidence of generalized reticulosis was not apparent for some months after the head injury had precipitated his proptosis. In the second case, brought to hospital because of proptosis developing after a minor head injury, good evidence of the presence of generalized reticulosis was manifest at the time of admission. Bilateral proptosis as a consequent of head injury is very rare, and ocular manifestations of reticulosis

Posttraumatic giant fronto-orbito encephalocele causing cosmetic disfiguring forehead swelling with proptosis: Management
Fracture of the anterior skull base can occur following head injury. Growing skull fracture is usually observed in children under age of 3-years. It commonly involves frontal and parietal regions. However, orbit involvement is extremely uncommon. Authors report a case of giant orbital encephalocele with a forehead disfiguring swelling in a 4-years boy, who sustained head injury about 3½ years b...

At craniotomy a subacute extradural haematoma was found which communicated with an orbital subperiosteal haematoma through a shelved orbital roof ...

Introduction: In Iran, thousands of young individuals become victims of head injury annually. Head injury can damage neuronal cells which may in turn complicate the recovery of the patients. Also, the increase of iron in cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) following head injury may contribute to the hypoxic-ischemia brain damage by catalyzing the formation of free radicals (Harber-Weiss Rection). The obj...
